Rage Against the Machine frontman Zach De La Rocha is finally ready to release his debut EP, almost a year after it was initially tipped to the media.  The album will drop on July 22 and is self-titled after the band name, One Day As a Lion

De La Rocha teamed up with former The Mars Volta drummer Jon Theodore for this effort and I for one, am excited to hear it.  “It’s a sonic reflection of the visceral tension between a picturesque fabricated cultural landscape, and the brutal socioeconomic realities it attempts to mask,” the band said in a statement about the five-track release.

Rage unfortunately split up in 2000 and De La Rocha has since collaborated with such names as DJ Shadow, Trent Reznor, and The Roots.  Fans however have been waiting to hear his solo work for quite some time.  Although I am not expecting the brilliance of Rage, I am greatly encouraged by the addition of Theodore and hope that such a combination will lead to a forward thinking and high quality release.  Make it rain fellas!
