Anyone who has been to a concert knows that swinging microphones are no joke.  Just last month my friend got smashed right in the side of his cranium by an irresponsible frontman trying to be a big-timer.  Well, on the Maryland Heights, Missouri leg of the Warped Tour, Gym Class Heroes’ frontman Travis McCoy took this common concert accident to a new level–smashing a fan on purpose–resulting in his arrest.

McCoy was charged with third degree assault after he intentionally smashed an audience member in the head after a some sort of race inspired altercation.  This being said, the victim was also Black, so which made the incident a little bit unusual.  According to Rolling Stone, the audience member called McCoy an ignorant n—-r, which not surprisingly sent the MC off. McCoy invited the man on stage so he could in order to call him out to the crowd, when the man allegedly attacked his knee area.

What is it with artists and assaulting audience members these days? I suppose McCoy was just taking cues from this chick . McCoy posted bail and was released, although Police would like him to return for further questioning. The incident shouldn’t affect the bands future Warped Tour dates.
