UFC 86 Set to Explode

UFC 86 airs tonight on Pay-per-view and should be a solid card. The headline bout is my man and current UFC light-heavyweight Champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson vs Ultimate FIghter 1 winner Forrest Griffin. Rampage has been just that of late, ripping through top UFC opponents like wrapping paper on Christmas day. Since joining the UFC Jackson is 3-0 with victories over former PRIDE and UFC champsion Dan Henderson and Chuck Liddell. Griffin doesn’t have quite the same resume, but did defeat the last man to take down Jackson, Mauricio “Shogun” Hua. Hua was widely regarded as the top light heavyweight in the world and was expected to walk through Griffin on his way to Rampage. The pesky Griffin had other ideas however finishing the fight via rear naked choke. Now its Griffin vs Jackson, and a swell fight it will be.
Other notable matches on the card include Patrick Cote vs. Ricard Almeida, with a title shot vs Anderson Silva on the line. The way Silva has fought, its a wonder anybody would WANT to fight him…but these guys are pros and pros want the belt.
Most of the other matches seem a bit one-sided as big names battle up and comers. Fight favorites include Joe Stevenson, Josh Koscheck, Tyson Griffin, and Gabriel Gonzaga.
