Colt’s All-Pro Quarterback Peyton Manning could miss the team’s opening game on September 7th due to an infected Bursa Sac in his left knee.  The injury, which had been receiving conservative treatment since February, but when pain increased and the injury showed signs of infection, the team decided it was time to operate. According to sources the procedure is routine and went smoothly.

The injury will take between four and six weeks to fully heal and the team’s traning camp starts July 25–less than two weeks away.  The Colts open their season at home at their brand new Lucas Oil Stadium and the prospect of doing that with Jim Sorgi behind center instead of Manning is dissappointing.  Up to this point, Manning has started every game for the Colts for 10 straight seasons–thats 160 games, an impressive streak.  Knowing Peyton though, he’ll find a way to get back in time for the season opener.
