Pop-singer and TH.com hottie Jessica Simpson is changing gears. The former pop-princess has set a date for her debut country album for September 9th. The album will be released through Columbia Nashville and will be entitled ‘Do You Know’. The first single “Come on Over” rose three spots to 23 this week on Billboard’s Hot Country songs chart.
Critics say there are other tracks on the album that show promise. “Might As Well Be Making Love,” is a slower tune displaying shades of Faith Hill’s powerful belting, and the autobiographical “Pray Out Loud,” pays homage to the style of the Dixie Chicks. The album was produced by Brett James and John Shanks, with songwriting contributions coming from Rachel Proctor, Victoria Banks, Troy Verges and Hillary Lindsey, among others.
Simpson will be making the rounds in support of the album, including a slew of morning and late-night talk show performances in the coming weeks. Simpson also will be playing U.S. country festivals including the Indiana State Fair in Indianapolis on Aug. 7.
