336 players ponied up the $15,000 to play the World Poker Tour Bellagio Cup event, and Mike Watson was the big winner, taking home the lion’s share of $1.67 million and top honors. Watson, better known online as SirWatts, couldn’t have been more thrilled.
Watson got a little bit lucky at the right times to come out on top, but those that know his game know that it’s been a long time coming for his big score. The death blow to David Benyamine in heads up play came when the two got their chips in the middle - Watson with Q9 and Benyamine with K9. A Queen on a flop sealed it for Watson, and he was a new WPT champion.
Here are the official results:
1. Mike Watson - $1,673,770
2. David Benyamine - $840,295
3. Luke Staudenmaier - $452,465
4. Ralph Perry - $290,900
5. John Phan - $193,915
6. Gabe Thaler - $129,275
