Anybody who follows the game has seen the spread of poker worldwide in recent years. The game is certainly not an American phenomenon, and its reach has spread far and wide. The most recent manifestation of poker’s sweeping popularity is the spread of the World Poker Tour to India. According to WPT Enterprises, Inc. and ZEE Entertainment Enterprises Limited, The World Poker Tour television program will now air on Zee Sports, India’s first private sports channel.

Episodes will begin this September on the channel, which is the flagship sports channel of the Zee Network, the largest media franchise and producer of Hindi programming in the world. “Zee Sports and WPTE together create a powerful partnership as the most trusted vehicles to introduce poker to India,” said Steve Lipscomb, WPT Founder, President and CEO.”We are delighted to be making history together.”

The series will consist of nineteen two-hour episodes from Season four of the show. The show will be promoted on-air and online through the company’s website, www.zeesports.co.in. The airing is quite an honor as poker will be broadcast alongside current popular sports programming such as futbol, cricket, tennis, motor sports, and golf.
