Barbara Enright proved victorious once again, this time at the Legends of Poker Event as part of the Ladies International Poker Series. Enright outlasted a field that included 100 women and world-renown writer/poker journalist John Vorhaus. Vorhaus was allowed to enter the ladies-only event due to non-discrimination laws in California.

Enright is famous for her 5th place finish in the 1995 World Series of Poker Main Event – the highest finish ever for a woman. So far in her career, she has pocketed $1.3 million in tournament winnings. Yesterday, Enright took home just over $11,000 from the $340 buy-in tournament. Perhaps more importantly, Enright won yet another ladies-only title, further cementing her as one of, if not the top, female player in the world.

Vorhaus’ path to 7th place in the tournament was a little more on the quirky side. Dressed in drag, the writer explained that he wanted to cover the subject of men competing in female only tournaments. “Being the intrepid journalist that I am, I decided to go ahead and play in it myself,” said Vorhaus. Vorhaus’ “ground-breaking” article can be found in the upcoming issue of CardPlayer Magazine.
