After two days of preliminary competition, 248 players returned to the Legends of Poker Tournament at the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles on Monday. After the final numbers were calculated, it was determined that the top 36 places will finish in the money with the grand prize totaling $1,116,428.
The action was fast and loose to start the day, as players were busting out at an unexpected rate despite their large chip stacks in comparison to the 200-400 blinds. Ali Eslami entered the day with the chip lead and soon won a massive pot against another big stack, giving him 450,000 chips, before losing most of it in the final level to finish with 180,000.
Successful female players were the order of the day as three of them convened on one table (14). Kathy Liebert, Esther Taylor, and Maria Ho all played well, collecting many of the chips at the table. Still, the big winner of the day was former World Poker Tour champion Adam Weinraub, who came into the day in second place, but took over the chip lead through a combination of lucky cards and great play. Weinraub finished the day possessing about 440,000.
Other notables that had solid outings during day 2 include David Chiu, Todd Keikoan, Mark Seif, Gabe Kaplan, Allen Cunningham, Paul “uclabruinz” Smit, Matt “mattg1983” Graham, Tuan Le, and Amit “amak316” Makhija. In addition, Cardplayer Player of the Year hopefuls Erick Lindgren, Erik Seidel, and John Phan are also still alive in the remaining field of 82 players.
