High Stakes Grudge Match: Benyamine vs. Rosenkrantz

It’s pretty crazy to watch the high-rollers play deep stack no-limit Texas Hold’em. There are insane amounts of cash being tossed around like it’s Monopoly money, yet somehow none of these players ever seem to get nearly as upset as the donkeys splashin’ around at the $.50-1.00 tables. Every now and again however, something strange goes down and it gets personal. This is exactly what happened between French poker pro David Benyamine and young gun Jay “pr1nnyraid” Rosenkrantz.
The feud began last week when Rosenkrantz accused Benyamine of a hit-and-run session where he banked early at $300/600 and then left the table. Benyamine’s excuse was that he cruised to play with “durrrr” and the gang at RailHeaven. Rosenkrantz did not find this to be a suitable excuse and chewed out Benyamine, taking a shot at his heads-up skills in the process. More specifically, Krantz insisted he would never quit a session heads-up vs. Benyamine because it is too profitable to play him.
These jabs were not taken to kindly by Benyamine’s girlfriend, poker pro Erica Schoenberg. After catching the chat dialogue between her “boy toy” and Krantz, Schoenberg blogged about “pr1nnyraid” and her words were none-too-kind.
“I’ve seen this player a couple of times on the no-limit tables, but never playing the other games so I imagine he’s just the typical NL ***-clown. (You know the type - started playing in high school or college, probably after discovering poker through his Magic the Gathering friends.)”
Rosenkrantz’ response to Schoenberg and Benyamine was as follows:
“Erica seems to have a lot of faith in DB and his ability to destroy my bankroll. I know that he’s not that good at multi-tabling so I hereby challenge David to a match: 2 tables of 200-400 or 300-600 HU NL.”
The war of words between these two giants of online poker finally escalated to a point of action late last Saturday night when the two met at the $300/600 table. One big hand made it a great night for Roenkrantz as he took down a pot of $235,797.50 by rivering a straight and inducing a call to his all-in move.
Despite the loss for Benyamine, he ended the session in decent shape as he took a $399,599 pot off of the now infamous Ziigmund (going on a half-a-million heater will make you infamous). Although his bankroll didn’t take a hit by the end of the night, Benyamine’s ego must be at least partially damaged due to his disappointing performance vs. the outspoken Rosenkrantz.
