While it is tough to compete with the insanity of the high-stakes poker action in September and October of this year, the November high-rollers were still out in force and the action was none-too-shabby. Patrik Antonius appeared to be the big-winner this month, taking down a massive $606,177 pot against fellow Finn Sami “LarzLuzak” Kelopuro.
It was a rare hand where the cards held up to the pot-size as both players bet heavily down on a board of 8-5-3-A-8. Antonius shoved all-in for Kelopuro’s last $176,000 on the river and was called, before turning over 8-8 for quads. Kelopuro mucked and Antonius took down the hand of the month.
While Antonius booked the biggest pot, the real winner of the month was Scott “mastrblastr” Seiver, who notched the second and third largest hands of the month ($458,998 and $458, 079 respectively). All in All, Seiver is said to have pocketed over $1 million in the month.
Of his winnings, a majority of it came from the bankroll of Illari “Ziigmund” Sahamies, during a session at GusHeaven. In the biggest hand of the session, Seiver bet $2,500 pre-flop and Sahamies popped it up to $10,500. Seiver made the call and both players saw a flop of Kc-4s-3s. Ziigmund then made a bet and before long, both players were all-in. Ziigmund turned over A-K for top-pair, top-kicker, but it wasn’t enough against Seiver’s 3-3, good for a set.
Phil Ivey and Tom “Durrr” Dwan also had big months, as they usually do, while John Juanda appeared to be the big loser. That being said, Juanda is still in good shape after the massive earnings he received for winning WSOPE and getting heads-up at the EPT High Rollers event.
