Motley Crue Debut at #4 After 11 Year Layoff

July 3, 2008 - No Comments Veteran hair-metal outfit Motley Crue debuted at #4 on the U.S. pop charts with the band’s original lineup releasing its first album in 11 years.  The album, entitled “Saints of Los Angeles” sold 99,000 copies in its first week and marked the groups 9th album in its 27 year history.  The new record outsold the bands previous release “generation swine”, which also debuted at #4 but sold only 80,500 copies.  This showing....

Coldplay Top Billboard Charts With New Offering

July 1, 2008 - No Comments Brit-rockers Coldplay topped the Billboard 200 with their newest release “Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends”, selling a whopping 721,000 copies in its first week of U.S. sales, according to Nielson Soundscan. Still, this chart dominance was somewhat expected as this release still sold fewer copies than the band’s other chart-topping releases “X&Y” in 2005, which pushed 737,000 in its first week of sales.
