July 6, 2008 - No Comments In a far cry from the systematic destruction that was the French Open final, Rafael Nadal edged out reigning 5-time Champion Roger Federer to win the Wimbledon Championship for the first time on Sunday evening.  The match, which ended 6-4,6-4, 6-7(5), 6-7(8), 9-7, in favor of Nadal, was certainly one for the ages between the undisputed two top players in men’s tennis today.  The match turned out to be the longest in Wimbledon history, and....

Venus Best In Universe–Or At Least England

July 5, 2008 - No Comments Venus Williams rallied from dropping 10 of the first 11 points in the match to defeat her younger sister Serena in the Wimbledon finals today.  Despite being down 3-1 in the first set, Venus won in straight sets 7-5, 6-4 Saturday to capture her 5th career Wimbledon crown.  Venus also improved her record in Wimbledon finals to 5-2, although this is the first time she’s beaten Serena in the finals–she had lost 2 times in the final previously....
